In spite of his rather stubby build, the Hunter is a large humanoid entity who towers over children like Mono and Six. Lastly, like most beings of his stature, the Hunter is shown to be physically strong, as he can smash through wooden doors or bolted planks with little effort. However, the Hunter's mask possibly obscures his vision at times, as he is unable to spot Mono and Six in tall grass as long as they stay still. The combined usage of his shotgun and lantern makes the Hunter very alert at all times, reacting to any form of noise or movement (such as crows flying off or a log being pushed over) and will quickly kill Mono if he stays out in the open for too long. The Hunter also uses a lantern to search for his prey in the dark, thus requiring Mono and Six to use the Wilderness' environment to their advantage during timed stealth sections to avoid being spotted. Unlike other antagonists in the series, the Hunter is always armed with a double-barrel shotgun that he uses with deadly precision, forcing Mono and Six to frequently take cover whenever the Hunter chases them. The Hunter shooting at Mono and Six without hesitation, proving how dangerous he truly is. Despite being the first threat Mono and Six have to deal with in the game, the Hunter's unrelenting behavior and violent nature make him an unexpected force to be reckoned with, never giving up on his pursuit of Mono and Six until they kill him. In addition to being ruthless and short-tempered, the Hunter is remarkably persistent, determined to kill Mono and Six as soon as possible once he sets his eyes on them. The Hunter also seems to neglect the state of his house, having left it filthy and unkempt because of how much time he spends hunting and skinning animals. Intelligent enough to litter the Wilderness with traps to catch and kill his prey, the Hunter seems to have no intention of letting any living thing unlucky enough to enter his territory leave alive and the fact that he keeps track of his kills by turning his victims into taxidermized trophies possibly indicates a sense of pride in his work. Beyond his twisted obsession with taxidermy and collecting dozens of pelts, the Hunter has no definitive motive for slaughtering animals, his own kind or children alike, treating any living thing besides himself as nothing more than prey. However, it is revealed through the Hunter's actions that he is a cunning, homicidal lunatic.
